Invisalign Q&A
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign works like braces, gradually shifting your teeth from their current position into proper alignment, giving you a straight, stunning smile. But instead of using uncomfortable and obvious metal wires and brackets, Invisalign uses clear plastic aligners.
These aligners fit over your teeth and are designed to be as discrete as possible. You’ll use multiple different aligners throughout your Invisalign treatment, each one moving your teeth closer to their ideal position until you’re left with your dream smile.
What should I expect from treatment with Invisalign?
If you’re interested in using clear aligners to transform your smile, you should schedule an appointment with Dr. LaMura and the team at Cary Smiles. They can discuss your smile goals so you can decide together if Invisalign is the right option for you.
If he determines that Invisalign is right for you, he takes digital impressions of your mouth. Using that scan, he creates a treatment plan tailored to your needs and aesthetic goals.
Next, your aligners are created. Each set is customized to fit perfectly over your teeth and is individually trimmed to align with your gumline so you can wear them comfortably all day.
How do I eat and drink with Invisalign?
You should be able to go about most of your daily activities while wearing your Invisalign aligners. You can simply remove them whenever you want to eat or drink; just brush your teeth before you put your aligners back in.
For the best results, Dr. LaMura recommends wearing your aligners for 20-22 hours a day.
Because you can simply remove your aligners, it’s easy to care for your teeth while you have them. Traditional braces, on the other hand, can make flossing a major chore and require extra care or equipment when brushing to get under and around the wire brackets. With Invisalign, you can take care of your teeth the same way you always have — easily and comfortably.
